Info

Black stained hands - from the oils of the black walnut husk - are a sign that it's harvest season in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Families will spend weeks camped in a small forest plot - allotted to them by the state and paid for with a percentage of their earnings from the harvest - to collect their share of wild walnuts, which then become an essential part of the year's income.
